Good afternoon Highwood Band Families!
It has been a very busy fall, and we still have one more performance tomorrow morning where our jazz band students will continue the tradition of providing musical accompaniment for our school's Breakfast with Santa.
As a reminder, all Jazz Band Students (10-12 and a few Grade 9s) need to be at school ready to set up by 8:10 AM so that they have time to eat and play by 8:40AM.
Please be encouraging your child to take their instrument home over the winter break. All of our March Festival music has been distributed already so that students have time to look at it ahead of time. We will be doing a variety of check ins with students over Exam Break to ensure the music is learnt and ready to go for festival by the end of January. All Grade 9-12 students (Non Anaheim/Interested Anaheim students) will be performing this repertoire at the AIBF Festival in Edmonton in early March.
Please ensure to keep up to date on Maplewood to see if your child has any outstanding assignments before we head into Exam Break. Though band is a year long course, it is vital for students to be keeping on top of their work!
Thank you to our parent committee volunteers, especially Natasha Dunne, who have been very busy this fall providing fundraising opportunities for all of our students!
Thank you again for your continued support of the Highwood Band Program. Our continued success and growth would not be possible without the hard work of our students and the support of our parents.
Have a wonderful holiday season and see you in 2025!
