March Update!

Good afternoon, Highwood Band Families!

It has been a busy month! A huge congratulations to our 9-12 students for being awarded a Gold Award, as well as being named "Adjudicator's Choice" at the Edmonton AIBF Festival. A program being awarded 1 of these in their history is no small feat, let alone receiving this honour three times over the course of two years.

For families that still need to pay their Edmonton/Waterpark fees, please see Mrs. Zuehlke to ensure this is done!

Parent Teacher Conferences –With both teachers away in Anaheim during the scheduled Parent Teacher Interviews April 15-16, parents will need to schedule individual appointments with the band teaching staff. Please contact Mr. Stearn or Mr. Wiest at any time to check in regards to the progress of your child.

Anaheim Updates We are in the final stages of preparing for our Anaheim Band Tour, coming up on April 13th-17th. Please ensure you and your child have read through all of the supplied materials (Itinerary, packing list, behaviour contract, etc.) and returned all permission and notarized forms.

A reminder of the mandatory trip rehearsals on April 2 & 9th for all travellers grade 9-12.

We will be holding a special instrument packing session on April 11th at lunch hour. All travelers must be in attendance in order to properly stow oils/greases etc, as well as prepare our instruments for travel.

It is the responsibility of each traveller to ensure that their instrument leaves the school on the Friday afternoon – with our meeting time set for 7am on April 13th, there will be no access to the school the morning of our travels.
