Welcome to the 2025/26 Year in Band!

Good morning Highwood Band Families,

We have reached the end of what has been a very busy first week in the Highwood Band Program. We hope that everyone had a fantastic summer, and that your children are easing back into the new school year!

By now, your son or daughter should have their instrument as well as all of the supplies they need to get started making music. Students have already begun playing some of the music we are preparing for our first concert of the year on Thursday, October 23rd at Highwood High School.

Please note that the rental forms this year are digital. Students will be bringing home forms that have their instrument information as well as a QR code for you to scan and complete the rental form on your phone (each form can accommodate 2 instrument rentals). The fee is $150 for the year, and students are not charged for their second instrument if they require one.

We are also gearing up to head to Camp SABC for our Fall Band Retreat from September 22nd-24th. Information as well as permission forms will be going out for this early next week. If you are interested in accompanying as a chaperone, please reach out to one of the band directors.

Course outlines have also been posted to each Google Classroom, so please have a read through these if you are interested in the structure of our Instrumental Music courses and what students can expect throughout the year in terms of expectations and assessment.

Finally, if you are interested in getting involved with all things Band at Highwood whether it be chaperoning on trips, fundraising, or volunteering at events, we are always looking for parents to join our Band Parent's Committee. Please reach out to Mr. Wiest or Mr. Stearn if you are interested.
