At Highwood we have been very fortunate to watch our Band Program grow at an astonishing pace over the years following the pandemic. This year our enrollment hit 88 students, which to put in perspective is over 16% of Highwood's student population, and is a similar number to larger Calgary based programs where school populations are nearing 2000 students. This has been there result of amazing and eager students, a very supportive administrative team, our incredible parent community and a teaching team who have a shared vision for our students and are willing to give of their time. A key inspiration for our work is to create a place that any student can belong to a music community while at Highwood and find success.
You may have seen the "Framework for a Flourishing Community" post on the Foothills School Division's social media. There are a few questions about community and flourishing that they have asked us to answer as part of a larger project. Please consider filling out the survey and including something about your child's experience in the Band at Highwood if you feel it is "Evidence that you see in your home/school/town that tells you we are a part of a flourishing community".
In FSD we are lucky to have many thriving Performing Arts programs and unfortunately this is not the case everywhere in Alberta. Advocacy is always important for our continued success and support and I appreciate any time you have to give. Thank you for your consideration! Link to survey: (max 5 minutes)
